Dreams for Mental Health

Our research on targeted dreaming for mental health and stress relief has been conducted in both in-home, clinic and lab environments, and shown significant improvements in measurements of depression, suicidality, anxiety, insomnia and nightmare markers.

Dr. Westley Youngren says his research could help develop treatments for PTSD by using targeted dream incubation to re-script details of recurring nightmares, giving patients control over their dreams.

“The idea is that the new nightmare will take the place of the recurring one,” he said. “And a lot of times when you work with individuals with this therapy, they don't have the restricted nightmare — all the nightmares tend to disappear.”

After using Dormio for TDI to dream about a particular topic, people were 43% more creative than those who napped without any dream direction and 78% more than those who stayed awake.
